2024 Kent Award: The San Mateo County School Boards Association is pleased to be able to acknowledge and publicize the outstanding teachers and programs in San Mateo County through the J. Russell Kent Awards program. Oceana's partnership with Pie Ranch was awarded the Kent Award in May 2024.
2024 Redesigning High Schools 10 Features for Success: Oceana was featured as an example for Feature 1: Positive Developmental Relationships, Feature 5: Student-Centered Pedagogy and Feature 6: Authentic Assessment on page 77.
Performance Assessment Profile: Oceana High School: The Learning Policy Institute featured Oceana's Senior Exhibition project, concluding that "Oceana’s Senior Exhibition model prepares students to think critically about complicated and important social issues, gather evidence to form their own opinions, and confidently present and defend their thinking to others. These skills are valuable in both a college and workplace setting, and leave students well-equipped to succeed upon graduating from Oceana."
2018 Closing the Achievement Gap: The San Mateo County Office of Education (SMCOE) released its Achievement in Motion report at the tenth annual Zap the Gap Summit. The data-based report highlights five schools, including Oceana High School, in the County that have improved outcomes for all students, including traditionally underserved youth.
2015 California Golden Ribbon Award: A program for which honors California's outstanding public schools, including Oceana High School. Schools that are selected demonstrate exemplary achievements in implementing state standards in priority areas.
2009 California Distinguished School: Honors some of California's most exemplary and inspiring public schools. Schools selected for the Distinguished School Award demonstrate significant gains in narrowing the achievement gap.
