SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SENIORS

 

 


AXA Foundation Scholarship - $10,000 to one student in each state and $15,000 to ten students.  

Winners are those who set and reach ambitious goals, ability to succeed in college and have respect for self family and friends. See poster in the counseling hall and scholarship box in counseling hall.

 

Gates Millennium Scholarships are available for people with low income and good grades.  They must enroll in college, as full time students, in their first year after graduation.  Due: January 2, 2009.

 

California Park & Recreation Society - Scholarships awarded to juniors and seniors. Must have completed 40 community service hours. The deadline is January 16, 2009.

Oratorical Contest -To any students who would like to utilize their public speaking talents are urged to enter an oratorical contest which will be held on January 24, 2009.

 

Elks National Foundation - Who’s eligible? Any high school senior who is a U.S. Citizen.  Applicants are judged on scholarship, leader ship and financial need.  Deadline: Mid January

 

STD Awareness Campaign. Enter your artwork and a slogan aimed at educating the public about STD’s. Some of the prizes are; Ipods, Ipod Shuffle, movie tickets and more. The deadline is February 1, 2009.

 

Mahatma Rice Scholarship - To enter, complete and essay of 150-250 words on this topic: “How will your college education help you to achieve your lifetime goals?” Last year we had two winners chosen from Oceana. Deadline: 2/16/09
